Genevieve Laurent composed it at twenty-six, from the centifolia her grandmother grew outside Grasse and a piece of labdanum she kept in a desk drawer. For six years it lived in an unlabelled vial while she worked for other houses. Solane was founded so that someone other than her could wear it.
